    Eco-Materials and Renewable Energy Research Center (ERERC) of Nanjing University was founded in May, 2003 by Prof. Zou Zhigang, who is a Cheung Kong Scholar professor. The center is a multidisciplinary research on materials for the applications in environment remediation and renewable energy. The research mission of ERERC is to explore clean energy and realize green future. Nowadays, there are several research fields in this center:(1)  Solar hydrogen production; (2) Artificial Photosynthesis: Photocatalytic Reduction of CO2 into Renewable Hydrocarbon Fuels; (3) Photocatalytic environmental purification; (4) Advanced Micro & Nano-structured Thin Film Solar Cells; (5) High-performance, low-cost and long lifetime of proton exchange membrane fuel cells; (6) Low-cost white light LED materials and devices. 

 ERERC has all kinds of laboratory equipments including samples’ preparation, Characterization (SEM, XRD, AFM et. al.), performance measurement (photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical properties, fuel cell and solar cell et. al.) and theoretical calculation (CASTEP, Gaussian, VASP). There are 6 professors, 3 associate professors, 1 associate researcher and 4 other staffs in this center. From 2003 to 2012, ERERC has been supported by the Chinese government (National Basic Research Program of China 973, National High Technology Research and Development of China 863, and Natural Science Foundation of China NSFC, JST-MOST, NSFC-JSPS), also by some famous corporations, such as Coring USA, Sony Japan and CSUN China. The people in ERERC have published over 200 journal papers, including J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.,Adv. Mater., Energy Environ. Sci., Adv. Funct. Mater. and so on, also applied 60 patents and 30 of them have been granted. 

    ERERC is trying to develop international corporations with National Institute for Materials Science and Hokkaido University of Japan in project application, research and students’ education. We hope that ERERC will be built into a high-level and multi-discipline international research center on novel eco-material and renewable energy and will make a contribution to realize a green globe in future.
